Hugme is all around. It is in the air you breathe, it's in the food you eat. It lurks in the darkness, and basks in the light. It's cross-browser, cross-platform, multidimensional, a bridge between the past and the future. It doesn't promise to improve your life, but it may help to open your mind, give you a few new ideas, or even provoke the occasional thought. Where did the site come from? Hugme was originally named Netillusion, way back in early 2000. At the time, I had just finished secondary school and started college, and as part of the IT course I was studying, I focused on HTML. I had delusions of one day being a professional web designer, although I doubt I could aspire to that now. Since then, the original site has been lost, although parts of it have been preserved through my discovery of a lot of things about myself, and its time as simply 'Jacel's homepage', and 'Y Ty Efydd'. So now, here it stands. A monument to myself, my thoughts, my achievements, my friends, and not a whole lot else. There may be a little more behind it than the standard 'this is my homepage, because everyone else has one', but there's probably not a lot. Then again, who knows? Where is it headed? There are a lot of things I'd like to do with this meagre chunk of webspace. Not least of which, hosting a successful messageboard for a subject or two that I'm interested in, a VCL- or DeviantArt-style user-based art hosting service, or something of the like. These things are probably not likely to happen anytime soon, but the possibility is there, and will one day be acted upon. For now, I'm content to offer my services as an amatuer graphic designer, artist, and web designer. Suggestions for future trajectories are welcomed wholeheartedly. Some of them may even be acted upon. Others may be printed out and used to light fires, as some kind of metaphor for the use of ideas in our everyday society. The choice, as they say, is mine ^.^ |
